Kitchen Style

I have been dreaming of kitchen remodels since I moved into my new house. The kitchen situation in my little rental leaves a lot to be desired. I posted this kitchen below, years ago as my dream bakery. I would still LOVE this for my someday bakery, but for my home I would style it a little differently. I just love how the pastel pink fridge by Big Chill brings a ton of personality to this kitchen, so I created these style boards below using their retro stoves and the Pantone Colors of the year!

The stove is such a show stopper I kept the rest of the details neutral with a mix of finishes and textures.

I am obsessed with Carrera marble and these gorgeous marble floors. They pair perfectly with the gorgeous stove from Big Chill. Paired with these mercury glass schoolhouse lights it's perfection!

I couldn't resist making one more style board after looking around on the Big Chill website. This kitchen is a makes a major statement and definitely ups the glam factor.

I will be saving for the day I am no longer renting again!

Belmont Phase 1 Complete

Here goes...it's take three at blogging!  The last year has been insane with school and work and a million other things.  This year is going to be just as nuts since now I get to help plan a wedding!!  My sissy sue is getting married!!!!  I just finished my class yesterday and I SWORE to myself last week that I would only work on one project at a time.  That all went out the window as soon as I got home.  I started 3 yesterday, oops...  I like to keep busy so it's all good :)  Since my last post was about the inspiration for the Belmont house, I thought I would share some progress shots.

This is the kitchen around Christmas time, since then we have *finally* put up the backsplash.  I can't wait to get some pics of it and share them.  I love laying tile (I know I'm weird), I think it is because it makes such a huge impact.

Daddy is slowly tackling the outside.  The toothpick columns are gone and a wrought iron rail is on it's way!  I can't wait to get everything finished.  We were way overdue for an update!

New Old Kitchen Table

Our little breakfast nook has been through quite a few changes.  We had our original kitchen table there for a while with four matching chairs, but it was to big.  Then I moved a little leaf table there.  One of the leaves was broken though and try as I might, I could not get the thing to stay up.  Plus it had a few issues that I couldn't fix since it was on loan.

I had pretty much given up when this beauty piece of junk found it's way into my garage.

I have actually had my eye on it for a while.  My sister's boyfriend had it sitting on his back porch for and used it as an outdoor table.  It had LOTS of wear and tear, but I really liked the shape of it (it had sexy legs, well leg).

I decided to fix it up since it wouldn't really cost me anything to try.  Then I made Brian promise no backsies after he sees how fantastic it is and I got started.

I sanded and scrubbed and sanded and scrubbed and... you get the idea.  Then I cleaned the whole thing with bleach and approximately five rolls of paper towels.

I removed the base and spray painted it with a semi-metallic spray paint we had on hand.  I think the color was oil rubbed bronze.  I used it because I already had it, but I actually really like the sheen in gave it.

I stained the top with a leftover gel stain; the wood still wasn't in great shape so it didn't take the stain evenly.  I actually really liked that though it gave it a more weathered look.

I originally considered doing something like this with it.

Update with Paint

It's so bright and cheerful, but we have a lot of colors going on elsewhere so I kept it basic.
The table really fits the area well and it was FREE!  Who doesn't love that?
