My (sort of) New House

A few weeks ago, I posted about moving into a small house. Mine is by no means the next cover of House Beautiful.  It's certainly not perfect, but it is mine and I love it.

I don't think I could go full out tiny house, I require a separate shower and non-composting toilet, but the downsize has been nice!

It was not love at first sight, really it wasn't even like at first sight

There were cat plates all over the wall and an old lady door. It's a lot blurry, but you get the picture...

A year has passed, and a lot has changed (although the old lady door has not). I love my little old house now.

While I know in blogger world you should never show before pictures and not the after but I promise they are coming.

So for right now, just feast your eyes on all the cat plate old lady glory.

I have to admit, I panicked when I saw it the first time, but I love a challenge! No where to go but up, right!?

Belmont Phase 1 Complete

Here goes...it's take three at blogging!  The last year has been insane with school and work and a million other things.  This year is going to be just as nuts since now I get to help plan a wedding!!  My sissy sue is getting married!!!!  I just finished my class yesterday and I SWORE to myself last week that I would only work on one project at a time.  That all went out the window as soon as I got home.  I started 3 yesterday, oops...  I like to keep busy so it's all good :)  Since my last post was about the inspiration for the Belmont house, I thought I would share some progress shots. 

 

This is the kitchen around Christmas time, since then we have *finally* put up the backsplash.  I can't wait to get some pics of it and share them.  I love laying tile (I know I'm weird), I think it is because it makes such a huge impact. 

 

 

Daddy is slowly tackling the outside.  The toothpick columns are gone and a wrought iron rail is on it's way!  I can't wait to get everything finished.  We were way overdue for an update!

There is also this strange fire place room. 

It's connected to the kitchen and the dining room and living room are on the right.   I'm not really sure what you would put in here.  It separates the fireplace from the living area + makes it completely non-functional. What up with that?  You would melt if you had a fire going in this tiny room, especially seeing as I live in Mississippi.

Don't even get me started on the kitchen.

I think that's more that enough ugliness for one day, especially without any pretty pictures to break it up!
